VO5 STRAIGHTENING LOTION REVIEW

Vo5 recently came out with the new "smoothly does it" range. Today I will be reviewing the straightening lotion.

The Lotion

The lotion comes in a hot pink bottle (Which is always a plus) and a pump, so it is easy to take out. it claims to keep your hair smooth for up to 3 washes. Heat from your straightener activates the kerafix technology which keeps your hair smooth and it also contains heat defence.

what I did...

I washed my hair and I used the smoothly does it conditioner
I towel dried my hair for 30 mins approx
I added 10 pumps of the lotion into my hair
I blow dried it in sections
I straightened it in section on the highest heat

My Opinion

I have quite thick hair which is medium/long length and when you use the lotion and straighten your hair it leaves your hair really sleek and straight. BUT for me it didn't last for up to 3 washes at all. on the first wash my hair was still slightly smooth and straight but after that it just went back to normal. I think when I straighten my hair without the lotion, it gives a similar effect, so I don't really want to spend at least an hour applying the lotion and straightening it. overall I would not recommend this to a friend. I GIVE THIS PRODUCT 2.5/5 STARS

URBAN DECAY NAKED FOUNDATION AND PRIMER POTION REVIEW

I actually purchased this foundation last year and I decided to take it on holiday with me. But me being me, I dropped it and the pump broke and the foundation leaked everywhere. I think I might have cried haha. recently I brought it again and I decided to review for you guys.

The Foundation

The shade my foundation is in is 4.5 which is a medium brown. It claims have long wearing results such as: making skin brighter, reducing fine lines and giving your skin a radiant glow. It dries as a demi - matte which gives a slight dewy and fresh look.

The Primer

well we've all heard of the very famous urban decay eyelid primer potion that everyone raves about BUT for some reason no-one really talks about the foundation primer very much. is it because it's not very good, lets find out...

Application

I started off with the primer and I used my hands to blend it in mainly in the centre of my face. Then I moved onto the foundation. I used one pump which was more than enough for my entire face. To blend it in I used my No. 7 foundation brush. As usual I carried on with applying the rest of my makeup apart from my powder as I wanted to see how long the foundation lasted on its own.

My Opinion

In my opinion the primer is quite good as it holds your foundation in place and because it is an oily formula it works well on dry skin, like mine. One negative is that the primer can give and ashy look on your face, I'm not sure if this is just because my skin is darker than the primer or if it is like that on all skin tones. As for the foundation, I really like it. it gives a flawless finish with a slight glow to make you look radiant. The foundation lasted all day, which I was really happy about. overall I would recommend these products to a friend and although they are on the pricey side, I think they are totally worth it. I  GIVE THIS PRODUCT 4/5 STARS

DIY TURMERIC MASK. DOES IT WORK?

History:

Don't worry I won't bore you too much haha. Turmeric is a spice that has been used in Southern Asia for decades, not only for cooking but for beauty purposes. Brides to be indulge in this mask as it helps clear blemishes, acne and slows down hair growth. But the question everyone asks is does this actually live up to the hype? Well lets put it to the test...

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a Tbsp Turmeric (of course)
  • 1 Tbsp chickpea flour
  • Dash of milk
  • 1/2 Tbsp of plain yogurt
  • Oil of your choice (almond, olive, coconut)

Method:

  • Add the turmeric and chickpea flour into a bowl
  • Pour in the milk and the yogurt
  • Melt the coconut oil if you are using it and then add it in
  • Mix it together with an old foundation brush
  • Apply an even layer on your face
  • Leave it to dry for 20 mins approx
  • Wash it off with a cleanser

Note:

I advise wearing an old piece of clothing as turmeric does stain. you may also be left with slightly yellow skin at the end BUT do not worry, it will fade away. so it may be best to apply this mask at night.

sooo... did it work?

To be able to get noticeable results from this mask you have to apply it regularly (i suggest about twice a week) I have been applying this for the past three weeks and i have actually been seeing a difference. I have quite dull skin and I have found it has brightened my complexion slightly and i am sooo glad because i have tried loads of skin brightening products that have not actually worked. this just proves that you don't need to dish out loads of money to get great results, you can just produce something quickly in the kitchen :)
